About Andrew

Andrew Cheng was born in Malaysia and grew up on the island of Borneo.

In 2014, he was accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music on scholarship. At Berklee, he studied with world-renowned professors such as Mick Goodrick and David Tronzo, as well as earning several awards including the Guitar Department Achievement Award.

After graduating from school, he moved to New York City and has played tours and concerts in the United States, Europe and Asia, playing different styles of music. He has shared the stage with artists such as Hong Kong pop artists William So, Fred Cheng and German pianist Julian Moreen.

Notable performances include the Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan, Borneo Jazz Festival in Malaysia, and the Bar Next Door in New York. He is known for his beautiful, singing sound as well as his versatility in different genres.

In addition to performing, Andrew has continued to polish his craft by studying with New York jazz giants such as Peter Bernstein and Mike Moreno. This willingness to learn comes across in his teaching, allowing him to craft lessons with his students to help them reach the next level.
